UW Medical Center - Northwest Post Anesthesia Care department has an outstanding opportunity for a VARIED DAYS SHIFT, PART TIME, OPERATING ROOM SECRETARY . The OR Secretary functions as receptionist for the unit, performing scheduling and clerical duties to assist other staff members and support the efficient functioning of the unit.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Answers telephone using defined etiquette standards; routes calls and messages
Greets and directs visitors and offers assistance
Facilitates and acts as a positive liaison between the unit and other departments
Coordinates appointments for assigned surgeries and procedures
Obtains patient information and demographics from physician or office staff
Maintains office equipment, inventories, orders, and restocks office supplies
Assists in maintaining a neat and organized work environment at unit nursing station
Assists with patient admissions, transfers and discharges
Assists with communication plan related to patients’ safety risks

REQUIREMENTS:
High School diploma or GED equivalent

PREFERRED
CNA license

DESIRED:
Six months previous unit secretary experience preferred (completion of a unit secretary/medical terminology course may substitute for experience)
